Privacy policy

Your notes are yours. The app sends only anonymous usage data, which you can turn off, and never the content of your notes.

What stays on your device

Your notes and app preferences are stored locally on your device. You do not need an account to use weirnote. We do not receive your notes or upload them to our servers.

Anonymous usage data

To learn which features are useful and where things go wrong, weirnote on iPhone and Mac sends anonymous usage data to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service that processes it on our behalf. You can turn this off at any time in Settings with Share anonymous usage data. Once it is off, the app stops recording usage data; data recorded just before you turned it off may still be sent.

What is sent: which features are used (for example, that a note was created, archived or exported, or that a block was turned into a checklist), fixed error codes when something fails (for example, a sync or save failure), and whether you are signed in. The service also receives technical information about the app and device: app version, device model, operating system and version, screen size, language, region and time zone, appearance and accessibility settings, and how often and how long the app is used.

What is never sent: the text or titles of your notes, search terms, links, note or account identifiers, your name or email address, error messages, or which apps you share notes with.

Identifiers: TelemetryDeck receives a one-way hashed identifier derived from your device and a random identifier for each session, so it can count users and sessions without knowing who you are. These are not linked to your weirnote account and are not used to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

No tracking or advertising

We do not collect location data or crash reports, and weirnote does not include advertising or tracking tools. We do not sell or share app data, or use it for advertising.

Storage and deletion

App data remains on your device until you remove it. Deleting the app removes its local data. Your device or iCloud backups may retain copies according to your Apple settings; you can manage those backups through Apple. We do not have access to them.

Apple services

Apple may process information when you download the app or use device services, under Apple’s privacy policy. This policy describes our practices for the weirnote app.

Changes to this policy

If the app’s data practices change, we will update this page before those changes take effect and revise the date above.
